March 20, 2000, Newport, RI : Amy Silvestri, Psychology, 1991, who has been for several years affiliated with the "Laboratory for the Study of Brain in Sleep" at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine has just sent in a career update. She writes: "Just wanted to let you know that I've accepted a position as an assistant professor in the Psychology Department at Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne (IPFW), to start in the fall. It's a great position -- nice colleagues, moderate teaching load (3 courses/semester but only 2 preps, usually Psych 1 & Biopsych), decent space/funding for research, and I was pleasantly surprised by Fort Wayne itself. The university, with about 10,000 students, is a merger between Indiana and Purdue and is still primarily a commuter campus, but dorms will be built within a year or two. If you're so inclined and have some free time on your hands, the school's web site ...[can be accessed here]. " We are all delighted with Amy's new appointment and wish here every success. November 8th, 1999, Newport, RI : Amanda Zusman(1998) recently contacted Professor Walsh with an update on her graduate school experience at Springfield College where Professor Walsh also received two graduate degrees. She wrote:

" I can hardly believe I am about to register for my last semester of my graduate program here at Springfield College. I will always be thankful that you recommended this school, the program for Student Personnel Administration is wonderful. During my year and half here I have worked in several positions to serve the college and to gain experience in my field. I currently hold a graduate associateship with the Financial Aid office and conduct interviews for the Admissions office as well as teach a First Year Success course. It has been a very full and enjoyable journey up until this point.
I have found that the classes I am currently enrolled in relate easily back to what I learned during my undergraduate study. My classroom experience at Salve prepared me well for graduate study in my field. I look back to that agonizing research class from my senior year and refer back to what Dr. Frankel taught me to use for my current agonizing research class. I also think about Dr. Salvatore's history and systems and am happy to be able to relate to what my current professors are talking about.¶ I will be graduating in May '00 and will be looking for jobs either in Financial aid ...[or] Admissions. It will be time again to move on. I just wanted to send a note to say thank you for being a part of helping me to get to where I am today. I miss Salve a great deal and will always appreciate the experiences I had while I was there."

We in Psychology are all delighted to learn that Amanda is doing so well.
